This caused way too much work, with 2,700+ items removed and 1,400 modmail messages sent. With the mods runing everything, user engagement dropped with views down 204k. That's okay, though; quality over quantity. Apple is screening you for us. \n* If you have an **established GitHub project**, that can also build trust over time. \n* **But** if you are asking people to install software from a random site or brand-new repo, we need more reason to trust.\n\nTo make this clearer, we are experimenting with a **three-tier** approach for the next month:\n\n# Tier 1: The Trust Path = Post to Main feed.\n\nThese devs have the easiest route to posting in the main r/MacApps feed:\n\n* Mac App Store developers (Paid developer accounts + App Store Distribution). *Notarization alone does not count here.*\n* Developers with established GitHub projects, meaning 1yr+ consistent general development history and real community interest (100+ stars for the repository being promoted).\n* Recognized Developers granted a user flair (already well-known / trusted in r/MacApps)\n\nAny of these 3 trust signals will allow posting in r/MacApps, as long as you have 10+ local karma.\n\n# Tier 2: The Transparency Path = Post to Main feed.\n\nIf you are NOT in the Mac App Store and are not already an established developer, you may still qualify for main-feed posting by being open about who you are and giving users reasons to trust you.\n\n**Such app promotion posts must include BOTH:**\n\n1. I understand paying for cloud services in an app, but not for an app that can work entirely offline.\n\n**Comparison**\n\nI tried many alternatives, but none of them were up to the mark. Some were browser extensions(cursorful.com) that ran poorly, partly because of my average (16 GB) system. Others were Electron/JS wrappers with the same performance issues (webadderallorg/Recordly).     "selftext": "It’s been some time since my last post. Not because I haven’t continued testing nearly every app on the planet. I’ve simply been a little busy when it comes to checking in.\n\nQuite a few apps have found their way onto my Mac recently. Some are new discoveries, while others have convinced me to change direction and replace apps I’d been using for years. Most importantly, these are apps I’ve actually kept installed, which, if you know me, is already quite an endorsement.\n\n# [Mole](https://mole.fit/) ($19,00) and [Burrow](https://github.com/caezium/Burrow) (free)\n\nMy favourite recent discovery is still **Mole**, which I briefly mentioned in my previous post. Many people first came across Mole as a Terminal-based tool, and that’s where I initially fell in love with it. When I discovered that it was also available as a standalone app, I couldn’t have been happier.\n\nMole makes removing apps and all the little files they leave behind quick and painless. The standalone version does come at a cost, but a free alternative called **Burrow** has also appeared. Burrow is packed with functionality and, on paper, may even offer more. I really wanted it to become my first choice, but it feels slightly slower on my Mac, almost as though it’s lagging behind the task.\n\nThat small performance difference has kept me firmly with Mole. For now, it remains my uninstaller of choice.\n\n# [FaceGate](https://facegate-applocker.vercel.app/) (free) and [Face Unlock](https://github.com/HasBrain/FaceUnlock) (free)\n\n**FaceGate** is one of those rare apps that immediately landed on my must-have list. In fact, it feels like something Apple should have included with macOS from the beginning.\n\nIt allows you to lock sensitive applications behind facial recognition, Touch ID or a secure password. Everything is processed on the device, with no telemetry, which makes perfect sense for an app designed around privacy.\n\nInstallation is smooth, and the facial recognition feels much like using Face ID on an iPhone. Within a few minutes, your chosen apps are protected—and it’s completely free.\n\nI enjoyed it so much that I contacted the developer to ask whether they might consider creating something similar for folders, or perhaps even for unlocking the Mac after it wakes from sleep. As someone who genuinely loves the app, I’d happily pay for those features.\n\nI also tested a similar app called **Face Unlock**, which focuses on the Mac’s lock screen. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get it working. It didn’t have quite the same polished installation or overall appeal as FaceGate, although I suspect my problem may have been an incorrect installation rather than a lack of functionality.\n\n# [EasyDMG](https://easydmg.app/) (Free)\n\nFor years, I’ve relied on third-party apps to handle DMG installations. I used [RapidDMG](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/rapidmg/id6451349778?mt=12) for a long time and, more recently, discovered that [Supercharge](https://sindresorhus.com/supercharge) could do much the same thing.\n\nPure curiosity led me to try **EasyDMG**. At its core, it handles DMG files in a similar way: you double-click, and the installation is taken care of for you. The feature that really stood out to me, however, is its ability to install unsigned applications when you specifically choose to allow them.\n\nI’ve been a happy [Sentinel](https://itsalin.com/appInfo/?id=sentinel) user for a long time and still absolutely love it. Even so, there’s something wonderfully convenient about simply opening a DMG and letting one app handle the entire process.\n\nEasyDMG is simple, useful and free which makes it very easy to recommend and, ironically, well worth paying for.\n\n# [Sxitch](https://sxitch.app/) (free & Paid)\n\nI’ve always been drawn to quick launchers, so when [**Sxitch**](https://sxitch.app/) appeared, I was curious to see what it could offer that the many existing launchers didn’t.\n\nIts promise is that every app is just one key away, and it genuinely delivers on that idea. The learning curve is gentle, the interface is attractive, and it appears neatly in the middle of the screen as an alternative to the traditional Dock.\n\nIt should be particularly appealing to anyone who prefers keyboard shortcuts over old-school navigation. I currently have it installed and am genuinely enjoying playing with it.\n\nWill it still be on my Mac a year from now? I can’t promise that. Not because it isn’t a beautiful or clever app, but because I’m currently completely fixated on all the new ways of customising the Dock. For now, though, Sxitch has earned its place.\n\n# [Ikuna](https://ikuna.app/) (starts at €9.00 a month)\n\nI was delighted when the developer of [**Ikuna**](https://ikuna.app/) reached out to me. I’d been using **Stay** for a long time and had tried several free alternatives, but none of them quite gave me what I was looking for. Some interesting paid versions never seem to have a demo, and I'm often very reluctant to invest money in a claim rather than testing.\n\nIkuna came much closer. It saves each project as a complete workspace, including your apps, browser tabs, windows, layouts and Focus Mode and can restore everything in just a few seconds. If you’re already a Stay user, Ikuna should immediately make sense. It offers a great deal of functionality and is beautifully put together.\n\nIn truth, some of that functionality is probably wasted on me because I don’t change workspaces very often. But for managing my daily setup and placing my windows exactly where I need them, it has been excellent. I’ve since moved from **Shift** to Ikuna, and it now looks after my everyday workspace.\n\n# [Notcho Libre](https://widgetworx.com/apps/notcho.html)\n\nFinally, there’s [**Notcho Libre**](https://widgetworx.com/apps/notcho.html). I have to admit that its name may be the most frustrating thing about it; no amount of Googling seemed to help me find the app again. I’m very glad I stumbled across it in the first place.\n\nI have never liked the notch on the newer MacBook screens. For a long time, I used a free App Store app to hide it, but during the past couple of years I began experiencing irritating signature and installation failures.\n\nWhen Notcho Libre crossed my path, I was keen to see whether it might solve the problem. I’m happy to report that, so far, it has done exactly that.\n\nIt appears to use a different method to disguise the notch, and I no longer have to stare at that awkward interruption at the top of the screen.     "body": "\\[OS\\] Ledgerly - A private bill organizer for macOS.\n\n**Problem**: There are so many finance apps out there that are so bloated. The only 2 apps that I know of that are just for tracking monthly recurring bills is Chronicle (Subscription) and Bill Boss (Limited features). So I built Ledgerly. \n\n**Comparison**: Ledgerly is along the lines of Chronicle. The main differences are:  \n\\- It is open source  \n\\- It is free  \n\\- Does not require using private servers\n\nYou can monitor your monthly recurring expenses and get alerts for when they are due, mark them paid and include confirmation numbers and attachments. When you enter your income, it will deduct all of your monthly bills that are coming up and show you what you will have left over at the end of the month.\n\nThe sync is currently set to sync using iCloud Drive.     "body": "**Problem:**\n\nAfter trying most of the timer apps available for Mac, I found many of them poorly designed, confusing to use, or focusing on only one feature. None really felt like a suitable Clock app for macOS.\n\n**Wick** brings a highly native Clock app experience to Mac. Timers, Stopwatches, and Alarms are all in one app, with menu bar and lock screen integration so they're always just a glance away.
