Reddit Comment Helper Privacy Policy
Effective October 28, 2026. Published by Upvote.net.
Reddit Comment Helper is a Chrome extension that writes editable drafts of your Reddit replies, in your own voice. You review every draft and post it yourself. This policy explains what the extension keeps, what it sends, and who receives it.
What stays in your browser
The extension saves these in Chrome's extension storage on your device:
- Your Upvote.Net API key, or the login tokens from "Login with Upvote.Net".
- Your profile: Interests, Practice Replies, About Me, Writing Instructions, Voice Source Accounts and the public Reddit posts and comments saved from them.
- Your Comment Keyword, theme and other settings.
- A list of your recent draft charges and balance changes, shown in the popup.
Reddit pages can't read this storage. It stays until you change it in Settings, log out, use Reset Voice, or remove the extension.
What the extension sends, and to whom
| Recipient | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Our draft service (runs on Cloudflare) | When you ask for a draft: the Reddit thread you're replying to (title, text and the comments above your reply), the post's image, your Practice Replies and Voice Source samples, About Me, Writing Instructions, your Comment Keyword, and your Upvote.Net API key or login token. | To check your Upvote.Net account, write the draft and charge for it. |
| OpenRouter and the AI model provider it routes to | The draft request from our draft service: the same thread, image and voice details. Not your Upvote.Net key or token. | To write the draft. |
| Upvote.Net | Your API key or login token, to sign you in, show your balance and charge $0.05 per draft. To charge a draft, our draft service also sends Upvote.Net a text-only copy of the draft request, up to 10,000 characters per message, without the image. | Sign-in, balance and billing. |
| Ordinary page and image requests, plus requests for the public posts and comments of Voice Source Accounts you add. | To read the thread, its image and the voice samples you asked for. |
The extension only sends data when you ask for a draft, sign in, open the popup (to show your balance), or add or refresh a Voice Source Account.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
- The extension has no analytics or tracking, and it doesn't read your browsing history.
- The extension never posts, votes or submits anything on Reddit. You click Reddit's own Comment button.
How long data is kept
Our draft service doesn't store your drafts or the text you send. When Upvote.Net refuses a request, the service may log the step, the status code and Upvote.Net's error code. It never logs your key, token, thread text or draft. OpenRouter, the AI model provider and Upvote.Net handle the data they receive under their own privacy policies.
Your choices
- Edit or clear About Me, Writing Instructions, Interests, Practice Replies and Voice Source Accounts in Settings.
- Log out in the popup to remove your Upvote.Net key or login tokens from the extension.
- Remove the extension to delete everything it saved in your browser.
Children
The extension isn't meant for children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above, and update the extension's store listing when the change matters to how your data is used.
